Week 12

Well these past few days have been a bust. Because of stupid tropical storm "Fay" my ultrasound appointment in Jacksonville got cancelled and so did our trip to Sumter to visit Ed's parents. I was really looking forward to going to Sumter. We were going to have a birthday for Ed and his mom was going to cook some fantastic dinners. Mmm...her cooking is always delicious!! Well we didn't go so now it has been the most boring week ever. To top it off Ed had to work yesterday and today so I'm just sitting here. I decided to spend this free time getting ready for my big moving sale I'm having in a couple of weeks. I did get a lot of stuff done so I can't complain too much. I got to go through all of the stuff, clean the house, and get some laundry done. I think I might reward myself with some Ben & Jerry's later tonight. I got up early this morning and walked about 2 miles with the puppy so I deserve it. Tropical storm Fay has finally passed us. It was mostly just a lot of wind and rain for days.

I had a little "un-birthday" for Ed on Friday since he will be starting shiftwork in a few days and will pretty much miss his birthday. Shiftwork means that he has to work 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, for almost a month. His shift is 3am to 3pm everyday. I pretty much will not see him until we move in October so I thought he should at least get some kind of birthday. We opened presents and I baked a cake. Poor husband...he can't wait to get out of here and get to his new job. Hopefully it will be much better with his schedule. Here are some pictures of the birthday party. :)

The first one is of Ed showing off his candles...TWENTY NINE!! Well he will meet his goal, which was to have his first baby before he turned 30. The next one is him blowing out the candles, and the third one is of him opening presents. He got Mario Kart for the Wii, which is what he has wanted for months. His real present was a couple of weeks ago. We went to a NIN concert in Duluth, GA. He loves NIN and I went b/c I love him. It was the baby's first rock concert. Haha! Well I'm going to get back to my cleaning. Tomorrow I'm going to call and reschedule my appointment. Have a great weekend!! :)

Welcome Everyone!!

Hi everyone!! If you're here you probably got my e-mail. I have secretly been working on this blog for a couple of weeks now. I didn't want to tell everyone about it until I had it ready and I'm still getting used to all of the features. Since most of you are probably looking at this for the first time I figured I would give an update on everything that's happened so far. Ed and I have been to 2 doctor's appointments and so far everything has checked out perfectly. All of my bloodwork was fine and all the tests the doctor did were normal. We had our first ultrasound and it was the neatest thing I have ever seen. Since we had the ultrasound at 9 weeks (that is still super early in a pregnancy) you can't see a whole lot. It kind of looked like a gummi bear. I will try and get to a scanner so I can post those pictures up with the rest of everything else. I hope everyone will continue to check back and read about what we are doing. Our lives have not been the most exciting since we can't do much fun stuff anymore. For example, tonight is a typical night. We are staying in and eating icecream. I think that by the time this pregnancy is over we will have tried every kind of icecream in the store. We have tried almost half of all the Ben & Jerry's flavors. Tonight we're sampling Chocolate Fudge Brownie and ONE Cheesecake Brownie (yeah I was craving chocolate). We'll let you know how it goes. :)

Week 11

Well it is officially week 11 and I am starting to feel a little more normal. The nausea/vomiting is waning and there are even days I feel great. I am excited that I have a little more energy back because I was starting to feel pretty useless around here. Ed was doing everything and I felt really bad about it. Here is my latest picture. We take them every Wednesday before I head to work. The changes are not very noticeable to the naked eye, but my pants are definitely getting smaller. Our favorite thing to do around here is eat since we can't do much of anything else. This Thursday we have to go to Jacksonville to get some bloodwork and a special ultrasound that helps to detect genetic defects in pregnancy. It is new testing that is being done and we are excited that it is covered by our insurance. We are excited to get an inside view of what our baby is up to. Last night we watched a movie called "In the Womb." It was a documentary of all the things that happen through a pregnancy and the footage in the film was incredible. Well it's about to pour (hurricane Faye is coming) so I'm going to get off the computer. We will write more after our appointment.

Week 9

I am now in the 9th week of pregnancy according to my own calculations and the theme of this week is morning sickness. I think it should be called the pregnancy flu b/c that's what it feels like. Basically I start each and every day feeling tired, achy, and on the verge of vomiting. It's all I can do to get something in my stomach which lately has just been coming right back up. Poor Ed, he has been cooking some of my favorite foods and all of his efforts are returned to the porcelain god. Yesterday he woke me up around 3:00 (I had worked the night before) with some surprises. First he had pancakes with blueberries and strawberries mixed in. Mmm...I love pancakes. He made them like the ones at IHOP and he even had a variety of syrups on the table. It was DELICIOUS, but unfortunately only stayed in my stomach for about 5 minutes. The next surprise was that he had cleaned the house while I was asleep which was awesome. Then...he opened the garage door and there was my car...washed, waxed, and detailed with a very sweet card. I have the best husband ever. He is so patient and kind through all of this. I am very lucky!! :)
